The Sims 2
Welcome to VJ Development! The Sims 2 was a great game that I loved making city style lots for. I had 2 very big collections, City Living and Downtown Living and this is where you will find them all. Enjoy.

This is gonna be the last home that ill be able to upload in a while, but ill promise ill be back, hopefully with better building skills because that roof gave me a headache to create. I wanna thank CC creators, for making it easy for me to use my imagination

Hey again^^, I was gonna wait a few more days to share this house with u guys but what the heck...here u go!
I'm getting carried away with this whole beach theme that my downloads folder is hopelessly growing, uh oh. This cutie just has 2 bedrooms, and 1 bath, I didn't test it, but i don't think sims wont have any trouble moving around. TY CC creators, reflexsims, TSR, Modthesims2, Sims in Paris, 4SF, Stylist Sims, Around the sims 2, Mango sims, Holy simoly, and the rest
Once i post this beach home I'll post another way later, haven't had time to play sims myself
Have fun with it!
Hello Everyone!
I know ya must been waiting for Isle De Oasis IV which will come soon. I did get around to making this urban lot for my website and i wanted to share it here the only difference is that the series name on my site is called Ghetto Living and in here will be a continue of Downtown Living but it fit perfect with the series hopefully ya like it i did furnished it with maxis items.this home is furnished with the basic to start moving a Sims.hope that ya like it and i promise i will work on my series Isle De Oasis soon..
Yay I'm back! And i bring a new lot for you beach lovers, i finally was able to install BV and my computer is handling it, lucky me ^^. I haven't had much time to test this lot, as for the CC, it has a lot so sorry, I got carried away furnishing it, but i loved the way it turned out. It has a bonus room downstairs for parties, because there are sims that love to have beach parties and lots of friends come over so that room is perfect for that. It has 2 bedrooms, 2 bath, i really hope you guys like it, because I'm in love with it. Thanks to all CC creators, there's so many i can't name them all, but thanks a lot.
Welcome to Mount Kohala Main Street. This is the happening place to be. On one side of the street there is a set of small shops, pub, and community pool all overlooking the beautiful mountside down to the ocean depths below. Your sims will absolutely love this paradise retreat.
Wow here is part lll of Isle De Oasis.
this lot comes unfurnished.
-Also this lot is a vacation home the lot is a beach lot which if you put it closed to the water it looks great.
-The Townhouses are two/one bedroom it has their own private entrance and small yard.
-The lot has it's own boardwalk with build in sitting area /two car parking space/build in grill and eating tables.very cute you're sims would love it.
Hey you guy's!
today i bring to you a contemporary home.
very spacious is one of my favorite lot i did created a while ago so i did a little update on the remodeling.
-The lot is empty due to im learning how to upload lots more than 10mb so im still trying so far i can't understand it yet so im sorry but for now some of the lots for this serie will be empty till i learn.
-The only thing that has furnisher is the patio/Kit/Bath/Car is included.
This lot has three entrance/the small yards one has a spot for a patio and the other has a small pool.
also at the upper level there is a small spot that fit perfect a office or laundry room.
hope ya like this lot..
Hello Everyone!
Today i bring to you my first lot on my Deserted Island
Call "Isle De Oasis" this serie is base on small and contemporary lots.
hope that ya like them.
-This lot has a pool and it has private gates so no one can peak inside the home.
-I left the lot empty due to some items was't reconized by the sims2 pack clean installer so i did't understand it so i deleted a couple of things beside the bathroom/Kitchen/shades and curtains.
"ON THE SIMS2PACK CLEAN INSTALLER YOU'LL GET AN ERROR MASSEGE ABOUT THE ITEMS NOT BEEN RECOGNIZED"
just press ok and install the lot as normal.
the reason for that massege is the kitchen set by Holysimoly is not been recognized so the lot is goin to show no CC on the sims2 pack Clean Installer
im trying to find out why is doin that but the lot should not give you any problems.
I did tested on my second pc and it works fine but if you run throught some problems feel free to leave a comment i'll help you with that problem as soon as i can.
This is the second in the series of mountain homes.
I used this terrain: Volcan Island
This is a great lot, I had so much fun play testing it! Hope you enjoy!
Hi all!
This is the very first house of my new series! This is Easthill Cottage, a beautiful mountain vacation home for your simmies. This is one of about 5 lots that have been created on a slope. Please do not attempt to place this lot on flat terrain or it will warp the terrain around it.
I have used a terrain from MTS2: Volcan Island
I have also included a picture to show where the lot is placed on that terrain. I don't know how it will effect different terrains, but if it is placed on the terrain I pointed to and in the same location, it works and doesn't warp the land.
This is my drug dealer house. I kind of set it up to be a home business/hangout for the drug buys. I used the hydroponic garden, but realized that you can't sell it, so I just put in a ticket machine. That's not really going so well as far as making money, but, eh...he's just a small time dealer.
I built this a very long time ago. I really can't remember the CC I used. The only thing I remember completely is what I put down. But thanks to the CC creators for the stuff I used in the house!
Hi guys! Today I bring you latest in the Cabin Fever series, Cabin Fever III. This cozy cottage home comes complete with two bedrooms, and 1 bathroom. It is fully furnished and ready to play. Enjoy!

testing
Hi all! I've been busy tonight working out the second lot for Cabin fever. I think this one turned out even better than the first, and it has a lot more custom content. Hope you like it!
Hi everyone! My name is Megan and I'm a new moderator here at VJ Development. So VJ, thank you so much for adding me to your team!
Now, down to business! This is the first lot in Cabin Fever, my new theme. It is a two story log cabin home with one loft bedroom. It is surrounded by beautiful pine trees, and has a very warm and cozy feel to it. This is the first home I've ever uploaded, so I hope that everyone enjoys it as much as I do!
Before anything i want to thank Vj for allowing me to upload this wonderful urban two row building for you'r downtown living..
These buildings are Apartments/Studios complete furnished.all apartments/studios come with private entrance/elevador/fire escape ladder at back/labby/receptionist desk/office
each apartments/studious has one bedroom/one bathroom/kit/small sitting area at kitchen
hope ya like it and injoy it!!
This is another typical Chicago house. These are mostly found on the Southside because they are a newer style. I used Marvines animated spiral stairs and they're awesome, but they are like Maxis regular stairs so 2 sims can't use them at the same time. They did cause me some grief with the family that lived here, but they are easy to manage once you get used to it.
*IF YOU ARE GETTING ERRORS, READ THIS*
I packaged some pigeons and a popcorn bag with the lot. They may be causing errors. Enter the lot in build mode and delete these items and from your catalog if you wish. Then the lot should work fine.
There are 5 stores on this lot. There is a mock liquor store, bank, toy store, clothing store, and coffee shop. There are a few items that some may not want (pepsi machine in the liquor store, ATM in the bank) so I suggest using the Clean Installer to get rid of it.
Here you'll find the Public Aid office and John's Garage. I wanted to put the broken car here, but it isn't in the catalog on comm lots. Perhaps if you make one of your sims run a business here, you can place the broken car so your sims have something to do and sell.
Funny Fact: For some reason, every elder in the neighborhood showed up at the Public Aid office. I thought it was funny because they are usually the ones that need the most help in real life, too. Smart sims!
In honor of my little girl's 1st birthday, and this major milestone in our lives, I made you all a little present!
This is an addition to the Downtown Living series, but not exactly in that style. Let's pretend that our sims were rich and tore down one of the old boorish houses and rebuilt from the ground up. It's really cute and easily played. Trust me, I fell in love with it from the moment my sim walked in.
HOLY 70's! This is a designer's nightmare. LOL
This is an apartment type house. There is a main house on the upper 2 levels and a basement "apartment" with rear entry. Both places are separate and, despite what you may think, is still easily playable. I had a young woman living in the upper house and an older woman living in the basement.
Ok...about the place:
The basement is only 4 clicks deep so it's not really a basement. Anyone who knows me, knows that I can't stand basements in this game and try hard to avoid them. Couldn't with this house as this is a typical 'Chicago' home.
The house is small. There isn't much room for anything extra, perfect reason to go on community lot excursions, but for just under $20000, you can't go wrong. This is a perfect starter home for just about any sim out there.
I got CC from all over the place and haven't the time to look up the URL's right now. I will update it later, but I want to mention the stuff that really impressed me: The wall overlays that create the cracked look are from MTS2. The one-tile door closet, also from MTS2, and the matching shelves are from TSR. Love those things!
Hello again! I bring to you my favorite new beach house
its a real beauty and i hope you like it cause i spent 4 hrs doing it, i went to bed at 2 am, thats how dedicated i am lol
Well its a 2 bedroom house, actually has one room that i made it into an office, but if you want you can change it to a baby's room. CC is from Insimenator, modthesims2, TSR, Holy Simoly, 4eversimfantasy, wallsims, reflexsims forum, peggy sims, etc, all other CC creators, thank you...
I noticed also that in the office i placed a desk lamp but i placed it wrong, so once u play the house place it correctly, other than that, no problems found, house was tested, sorry i didnt add a car this time, wanted to make a small house, but yall can use the walk to.. feature^^ Cya next time simlovers
Hello again, i know im late, but its better late than never
This time i bring my most favorite beach house so far, its beautiful and i hope you guys love it. I honestly dont remember the creators, all i know this house has stuff from modthesims2, TSR, so i really wanna thank CC creators even if i dont mention them, i guess i get carried away decorating and then the list of creators is too big. Cya guys next time!
PS** I realized i didnt add a door for the balcony upstairs, so u guys can delete the picture frame next to the bed and just add a door. Sry!
This is a good comm lot that takes advantage of Free Time and Pescado's Comm Lot Skilling hack. In the pictures, you can see a whole bunch of Free Time objects being skilled on. If you don't have the hack and don't want it, no biggie. The lot will work just fine, but you won't really benefit from it. This is also to add to the Downtown Living/In the Ghetto Series. I know that my lots are not big enough to have all the cool stuff on them. I'm going to make a bunch of these lots so that you can have lots of objects to make your sims happy and keep them busy all in one place. Plus, I really like having a point to going to community lots.
Here's what you'll get...
--a kitchen with a judges table.
--a ballet studio
--a textile and painting studio
--a music room
--a pottery store with studio on upper level
--an apartment so your sims can rest (also works if you have Numenor's Sleep on Comm Lots hack)
Enjoy!
WOW! This lot worked out perfectly. It costs exactly $20000. It is super trashed, though. I had 8 sims living in this tiny house. They had so many kids, they had to turn their garage into the teen scene. No car for them! This is a pretty playable lot. It's small and cramped, but there aren't really any obstacles that obstruct paths. I hope you like this lot...after having so many sims live here, there are tons of personal touches and items left behind.
This is the most awesome house I've ever build!! I mean, Downtown Living-wise. I had so much fun playing this house, I actually started to enjoy playing the game again. Ok, here we go. This lot is depreciated, but it looks awesome. I am going to make some of my ghetto house look good. I mean, just because you live in the ghetto doesn't mean you have to look like it, right.
So, this house is designed for 2 teachers that are raising their 2 grand-daughters (cause their momma's a crack-head in rehab). They're elders and have paid off the house. They've done some renovations, removing the second floor bathroom to create an extra bedroom. Hope you enjoy.
This is a great starter house: $10.552!!
I don't know where I got the tree out front, but it's gorgeous so thanks to whoever created it!!
**There is no parking space. I had one in the back, but turning it sideways made it flash blue in neighborhood view and from other lots. don't know what the deal is, but I deleted it because it was annoying me. If you don't mind it, you can definitely fit a parking space back there.
***This is my last upload until after Free Time is released.***
Just an abandoned lot to go between your houses. This is a community lot and it's great for gatherings and I even threw a wedding party there!
This is a great lot and a super deal. It costs a little over $20,000 so your sims will have to take out a small loan, but for what you get, it's magnificent. I looked into the lot after I packaged it and I noticed that the roaches and garbage don't get packaged with it so you guys are off the hook in that department. Hope you enjoy.
Also, keep in mind that the unfurnished version will cost more because it was not depreciated at all.
Please use the forum if you experience problems with this lot.
Well...you probably know that it's way hard to make a ghetto lot in this game. I mean, none of the content is really ghetto. I did my best. I had a family live here and pretty much trash the place. So, you are going to get a furnished house for just over $20000 (I really tried to get it below that price), but it's complete rubbish. Be prepared to clean. I hope you all like it. If you have any suggestions for the upcoming lots, let me know. I'm working on the 4th of this series now...and I'm running out of ideas.
I also don't know if roaches get packed along, but if they do, you better clean fast or else your sims will get the flu!! Which is what killed off the sims that lived here.
FOR SALE: Lothario Estate
This house was remodeled after the union of Don Lothario and Cassandra Goth. The two combined their style into a luxurious, comfortable living space. Don and Cassandra remained here for the duration of their lives, raised their daughter, Giada, and dog, Baxter, here. Cassandra's passing brought heartache to Don and he, too, passed shortly after. Giada is attending College. The estate is up for sale at a depreciated value.
I's so sad. This is the first Maxian house I've played and I really enjoyed it. Ah, well. There's still Giada to finish playing. The house is depreciated from the family living here so you get a lot for pretty cheap. Enjoy!
*FURNISHED VERSION REQUIRES CELEBRATIONS AND TEEN STYLE STUFF*
*UNFURNISHED VERSION ONLY REQUIRES THE EXPANSION PACKS, NOT THE STUFF PACKS*
This is a remodeled version of Nina and Dina Claiente's house, not that you could tell. Basically, it's a new house on their property. I set it up to be theirs, though. Dina's room is the girly one with the wedding stuff (because she really did love what's-his-name) and Nina's is the sporty, messy one. There is a spare bedroom, too. Hope you enjoy it.
*There was a problem with the original table, chairs and barstools I used. You will have to change them out for something else. [enter bitch-mode] I really hate when people make non-functional shit...why bother? [/end bitch-mode]
Hello again! Been a little busy, but i managed to finish another cute little beach house for all of you. Its a 1 bedroom, really good for a single sim, has a pond in the back so you can fish or relax in the hammock. I wanna thank all the CC creators, (TSR, 4eversimfantasy, Sims2Play, Holysimoly, Simbella and Modthesims2.) Others that i didnt mention, thx for such wonderful creations. Pls let me know if you like it, nice comments inspire to keep building
I tested the lot, and its wonderful, no issues at all. Hope yall enjoy it, cya next time!
A nice place for your sims to worship the Grilled Cheese god.
This is one of the lots that I felt was missing from my main hood. These types of buildings are everywhere, whether you believe in anything or not. I just wanted to make my city a little more real...
A simple community lot for doing not so much. I use it simply for meeting other sims.
This is the 1st house i ever built in my entire simming life, im very excited because I loved the way it turned out. I really hope you enjoy it as much as i do. This is just the 1st of many to come
This is the 1st beach house for the Seafoam Island series. House cost is like 80,000 simoleans, i cant remember exact amount. House is furnished, i wanna thank some of the CC creators i recognized, Wallsims, WDS, TSR, all other CC i didnt mention, thx for creating such amazing stuff for our sims!
Well, as some of you know I got a new computer. I was going to put my old neighborhood in, but decided against it. As I was putting my new city together, I found a few things that I wanted to add or change. Here is one of the additions. It is a mirror to City Living XV. The house is bigger in that this one has 2 floors and a bigger layout. It also has some luxury features that the other one lacked. So if you have any sims living in City Living XV, slap this baby across the street and watch you sims whine over the new sims who get to live here. hehehe
If you are looking for the terrain I made to go with the City Living series, you can get it at Insim: Here
This lot does not have a garage or parking space. You can add parking by deleting a portion of the yard, but with the new "walk to" feature, why would you?
Small, neighborhood grocer. Quaint little place, perfect for entrepreneur elders!
*This lot comes as is. Pre-played, not tested.*
A working photo studio for some lucky sim to own. I really liked this lot. I had one of my sims take the family pictures for everyone in the community. There is a picture on the counter of one of them. hahaha...I'm such a dork, I know.
Targa's backdrop used to be where the gong is now. Had to remove it because it is not compatible with newer versions of the game. If you have H&M you can use one of the backdrops from there, otherwise just paint the wall.
*This lot comes as is. Pre-played, not tested.*
The school is empty, but the library is fully functional. You can do the school yourself or turn it into something else. Originally, this lot was just supposed to fill space.
*This lot comes as is. Pre-played, not tested.*
Small gated garden. Nothing special, just a space filler lot.
*This lot comes as is. Pre-played, not tested.*
A small Visitors center featuring a large photo of the city...the highlight of it all. LOL
*This lot comes as is. Pre-played, not tested.*
Little corner coffee shop and eatery. Cute little place.
*This lot comes as is. Pre-played, not tested.*
A small neighborhood pub.
I played the heck out of this lot. The toilet is broken and there were ongoing games of darts. Let me know if you experience any problems due to this lot.
*This lot comes as is. Pre-played, not tested.*
This can be a used community lot if you have the Police Pack from Katy or Inge's Prison controllers. I just use it as a space filler.
*This lot comes as is. Pre-played, not tested.*
A formal wear store. People from the Southside of Chicago should know the name of this one. I think everybody and their mommas bought their prom dresses from this place.
*This lot comes as is. Pre-played, not tested.*
Space filler. It's actually a residential lot so the cars could be there without anyone owning the lot. I guess you can kind of turn it into a car dealership if you feel up to it.
*This lot comes as is. Pre-played, not tested.*
Shops: Grocer, hair cut, shoes.
*This lot comes as is. Pre-played, not tested.*
Named for my doctors office from long ago. Here is a handy community lot if you have JM Pescado's comm lot skilling hack. The surgery station and the virus station are there. There are also toys.
*This lot comes as is. Pre-played, not tested.*
I made this lot a long time ago when a friend of mine was killed in Iraq. This lot is set up to be a memorial place with urns there. Nothing that can be used for play purposes. There is also a file for it's parking lot. Not important, but it's a great space filler. The parking lot will be around 13 MB.
*This lot comes as is. Pre-played, not tested.*
Park with fishing, chess, grill, ice skating, swings, and coffee.
*This lot comes as is. Pre-played, not tested.*
Community Pool.
*This lot comes as is. Pre-played, not tested.*
CC from here and there.
Book Store with cafe.
*This lot comes as is. Pre-played, not tested.*
CC from wherever.
Pet Store.
*This lot comes as is. Pre-played, not tested.*
The town Post Office. Sorry about the name, but my original town was named Friendship Valley.
*This lot comes as is. Pre-played, not tested.*
Another shopping center. This one has a bank, furniture store, and plant store.
If you have the right something, the ATM machine at the bank actually works. It lets your sims take out loans that they actually have to repay. I never use the cheats...ATM all the way!
*This lot comes as is. Pre-played, not tested.*
CC from all over. Monique makes the ATM at MTS2.
Toy shop, already played so it has items to sell already in it. I salvaged this lot before my hard drive died so it was in an owned state and some of the items are out of stock. I don't know if you will be able to restock those items. Let me know if you experience any trouble.
*This lot comes as is, Pre-played, not tested.*
CC from lots of places.
A few clothing stores and a furniture store. This is the higher class, expensive stuffs. Enjoy.
*This lot comes as is. Pre-played, not tested.*
CC from all over the place and I'm too busy to search for links right now.
I can't take credit for this brilliant name. This is based on an actual coffee shop I used to pass on my way to the vets office in Washington. I think this is the best name ever to give a coffee shop and now that you see how easily amused I am...enjoy!
*This lot comes as is. Pre-played, not tested.*
I don't know where the CC came from.
*Home Business Residence*
I was a blubber-head and forgot to package the unfurnished version. Sorry 'bout that.
Hello everyone! This is one of the last ones that I have on me old hard drive. Looks like Downtown Living is slowly coming to an end. I still have the community lots to upload, though. I'm also going to upload the actual terrain on Insim (Definitely) and MTS2 (<---Maybe) later on today. So be looking out for that...as a matter of fact, I'm off to do that now.
This house is designed to have a small business in the basement. Right now it is set up to be a flower shop, but you can change it to anything. There are no flowers to sell...sorry guys, no free handouts today...you have to create your own. Hope you enjoy this lot, it's been fun play testing and I got the business to rank 10 in 3 sim days!
*There may be a slight problem, though. I noticed that one guy got stuck on the side of the house. I don't know why or how he got in the yard are, but there he was with no way out. I didn't want to put gates next to the portal. I just turned move objects on an moved him. There were no other problems besides that, though.*
HUGE FILE WARNING!
This is actually a hotel and community lot. It's current location is in my downtown, Uni, and BV hood because they are all set up the same.
I play tested this lot for days and it seems that all the functions work fine. If you experience any problems, let me know.
This lot is modeled after the townhomes that are down the road from where I live. They are very luxurious and cost a fortune to boot.
There are 3 houses and a small reception area.
House 1: $40/night, 3 beds, 3 baths, office, spa, massage table.
House 2: $3275/night, 3 beds, 6 baths (went a little crazy with the baths in this one, lol) tea table, hammock.
House 3: $708/night, 4 beds, 4 baths, pool
Each one is set up to be a separate residence and the items in the yards are not available to everyone so choose your stay wisely.
**Special thanks to the Uloba family for going from rags to riches and back again and being good sports about it.**
This lot was built by my friend, SelenHazel. It's gorgeous...just look at the pictures!
*I'm sorry that I'm not including links to the custom content...I really don't have time at the moment. If you use the Clean Installer, you will be able to see a list of the objects included.
*Any questions can be addressed through the comments area, I will be sure to let her know to check on it and respond.
Here is another luxury house to add to your downtown neighborhood. I hope I got the dimensions right this time. There is one discrepancy. I placed the gates that lead into the house in front of the stairs. They open and the sims will go through, but they will never close. You can leave them if that doesn't bother you, or move them off to the side of the stairs. I moved them in my game.
I also forgot to take pictures of the 1st floor bedroom.
I wanted to make a house with a rooftop garden. I used to live in an apartment with one and I used to love playing up there. I thought for the sims, a nice area to lounge and throw parties would be nice. Hope you like it. But the stairs, I used the new ladder stairs that you can find featured at MTS2. They are nice and do the job, but if there are several sims trying to use them at once, they whine about it being blocked. If this bothers you, you'll just have to redesign or forget about the roof.
There are 3-4 bedrooms. For the time being, I set it up to have an office because the stairs to the roof are in that room. It isn't uncommon for a house to have stairs to the attic in a bedroom in Chicago, though. It would be a good nursery as a family grows...and I was very surprised to be able to fit 4 bedrooms and 2.5 bathroom (1 is very big). I should probably think about redesigning the others.
This is one of my favorite pizzerias in the world! I tried to stay true to the architecture of the original building, which is located on 31st St. in Chicago. That neighborhood has gone way downhill, but I'll brave it for my favorite pizza!
I tried to use as much recolors as I could, to keep the file size down, but it's still pretty big. I had some trouble running this place as a business, but not just going there as a customer. There is a bed inside, in case anyone wants to try running it as a business, though. Home Run Inn has pictures of baseball stuff all over the place, but I was feeling a bit lazy and didn't want to do a ton of recolors. Maybe I'll upload them at a later time. I also only had the option of using a deep dish sign, but Home Run Inn is famous for it's thin crust. Ah well, at least your sims can have pizza...
Chicago Pizza
Chicago is mostly famous for it's deep -dish pizza, but it is also the creator of the thin crust pizza. The crust is thin and firm enough to have a noticeable crunch, unlike a New York-style pizza, yet thick enough to be soft and doughy on the top. They use Italian style tomato sauce, which is heavy on the spices and is thin with no chunks of tomato. Traditionally, the pizza is cut into squares and that alone distinguishes it from pizza places around the country. The consistency of the crust and the quality and quantity of the tomato sauce and cheese are what separate this style from East Coast-, Roman- and St. Louis-style pizzas, and it makes the pizza from neighborhood pizzerias immediately distinguishable from that offered by national chains such as Papa John's or Pizza Hut.
This lot is the same as all the others, but with a slightly different floor plan. To me, it seems a little more spacious and much more playable.
*Note: I have been trying to remove all the excess recolor files from the furnished version of the lot, but whenever I do, something gets corrupted. I'm not really sure what to do about it, but the only sure thing is that I can't remove the files. I think it may be because I compressed the files using the compressorizer. I'm sorry about this, I know it's a huge inconvenience.
I meant this house to be a part of a contest I have planned, so you will see some building blunders. It's still a nice house, it just isn't my usual easily playable types.
This house is meant for your wealthier downtowners who can afford such luxuries and a solarium. And with that, I will let you decide who gets to live here.
RED FLAG: H&M STUFF IS REQUIRED FOR THE FURNISHED VERSION. Also, the furnished version is a huge file!
The mile is supposed to be a long strip of stores, hotels, and restaurants, but it wasn't working the way I wanted it to. I decided the "mile" would have to be a square mile. For those of you from Chicago, can you guess what's what?
Tourist Trap
You can find the Magnificent Mile along Michigan Avenue on the North Side of Chicago. It includes some of the world's finest restaurants, hotels, and stores and many of the world's tallest buildings. In addition, numerous prestigious buildings are located along the Magnificent Mile, such as the Wrigley Building and the John Hancock Center, places listed on the National Register of Historic Places such as The Old Chicago Water Tower District and Chicago Landmarks such as Tribune Tower and the Allerton Hotel.
Well, I've been inside this building once and it contains a pipe that would take up about 4 grid tiles. Not very useful, eh. I decided, since I'm currently lacking one, to make this a nightclub.
Chicago's History
The Water Tower is located on Michigan Avenue along the Magnificent Mile (coming soon). It is 154 ft tall and gained fame when it was one of the only buildings to survive the Chicago Fire of 1871. This building has become one of the defining symbols of Chicago. I am unsure if it has achieved historical landmark status, though.
This house is meant to be part of the City Living Series. For reasons I can't remember, I decided not to upload it, though.
I've been having an overheating problem lately and while trying to fix the problem, I've been trying to revamp this house...because it didn't matter if I lost my work. When I finished, though, I absolutely loved the product. I put a lot of time and restarts into it and I think that added to how much I wanted to make it look good for you guys.
H&M is required because I used the backdrops.
The stage setup is just a prop for the pictures. It comes packaged with all the instruments and the karaoke machine. You sims can have plenty of fun on this lot. Also, if you run this lot as a business, Simwardrobe has a mod to let you assign your employees as performers.
Historical Buildings
The Chicago Theatre is a famous theater landmark located on North State Street in the Loop community area in the city of Chicago. The theater is host to stage plays, magic shows, comedy performances, speeches, and concerts. Although it now emphasizes live performances of popular music, it once served as a motion picture theatre. For several decades, it was the city's premier movie theater. The building was added to the National Register of Historic Places on June 6, 1979, and it was listed as a Chicago Landmark on January 28, 1983. The marquee is a Chicago cultural and physical landmark that commonly appears in film, television, artwork, and photography.
I made a small dorm for my game. It only has 2 rooms. I wanted something that looked like a house, but functioned as a dorm. I rarely play on big lots and this one is probably what I will use most for UNI. I wanted my sims to be able to live in a house without actually having to rent one. Hope you like it. The playable house is included for your regular neighborhood.
*I did notice 2 things: The computer on the second floor doesn't have any Uni options so you should change it out. I also forgot to put in a kitchen sink. D'oh!
*I recently installed H&M Stuff, let mr know if there is a problem if you don't have it.
Chicago's Education
The University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) is a state-supported public research university. It is a member of the University of Illinois system and is the largest university in the Chicago area with 25,000 students and 15 colleges, including the nation's largest medical school. Annual research expenditures exceed $290 million.
This lot includes:
Main Building
2 Dining Halls
Several Classrooms
Music Room
Library
Computer Room
Student Union
Medical Center
General Doctor Classroom
Dentistry Classroom
Optometry Classroom
Art Center
Art Classroom
There is plenty for your sims to do on this lot. If you have Pescado's Comm Lot Skilling hack, it's even better. The lot runs fine on my laptop, but if you have a slow machine, this lot is probably better for decoration only.
*Phone Line Controller Hack is in the furnished version. Use the Clean Installer to remove it. There are also a few hacked objects in the lot. I think, a mailbox, a newspaper stand, a pay buffet, and a spa. These were to add to the functionality of my own gameplay when I decorated.
Small Businesses of Chicago's Southwest Side
Ok, I forgot to rename the lot when I was finished building. 2 of the little shops were located on 59th and Kedzie. I used to love going here in my youth. At Nicky's you can order anything from a "Chicago Dog" to some chili. Good eats! Mitz has been closed down for years. She was a tiny shop that sold the BEST dollhouse furniture ever. She probably sold other things, but being a child with a dollhouse, I never noticed. She also served tea to her patrons while they were browsing which is why I chose to honor her with a little tea shop in my game. Red 7 Salon is a fancy salon downtown. They are new and I've never been. I found them online and love the homey feel of the place. Classic luxury, I love it. They needed to be part of this lot.
This is a small grocer comm lot. It includes a small business on the ground floor and an apartment-like place above. This is a good relaxation point for employees and for those of you with the sleep on comm lots hack, your sims can live there for a few days.
I got the business up to level 5, but couldn't get it any further. I am not awesome...
Chicago's Small Retailers
The Cupboard is a corner store I used to frequent after school. It's a store, much like a 7-11, where you can pick up snacks and magazines. I liked these types of stores because it was sometimes a congregation point for the whole neighborhood. The store owner definitely new everyone and always watched over us kids. He also used to give us free ice cream on blazing summer days and defended us to the police when we opened the fire hydrants.
With the introduction of large business chains, like Walmart, most corner stores have gone out of business. It's a shame because corner stores were the foundation of neighborhoods in Chicago and other big cities.
Chicago Culture
Humboldt Park, located on the northwest side of Chicago, is one of 77 officially designated Chicago community areas. The name may be used to describe the area as a community or the actual 207 acre park itself. The park was named for Alexander von Humboldt, a German naturalist famed for his five-volume work, "Cosmos: Draft of a Physical Description of The World". Interestingly enough, his single visit to the United States did not include Chicago. The creation of Humboldt and several other west side parks provided beauty, linked together via Chicago's historical boulevard system. The park is flanked by large graystone homes. The neighborhood's Puerto Rican population, in the face of gentrification, remains insistent on keeping and expanding a community through many housing, political, social, and economic initiatives like the Paseo Boricua business corridor on Division St between Western and California avenues where two 59 foot steel gateway-like Puerto Rican flags are planted.
Here's why I like this neighborhood: Remember trying to find the perfect dress for prom? Remember looking in Seventeen at all the beautiful dresses only to find out there was nothing in that magazine under a $1000. Yeah, this is where you go to find the cheap knock-offs. Why pay that much money for a dress you only wear once?
Another reason: You look left, right, up, down...no matter where, you'll see a gorgeous man. Sorry guys, the women there are pretty intimidating. (You don't want to mess with 'em anyway, especially if you aren't used to those Boricua tempers.)
*A hack was packaged with it. Use the clean installer to remove it.*
This is a home business. There is a house on one side, business on the other.
Chicago's Flavor:
Mario's Italian Lemonade Stand
Even after all the years I haven't lived in Chicago, there is one place that I always think of as summer draws near. Taylor Street. Welcome to Little Italy and Italian Ice. The place and the tasty treat go hand-in-hand, I've known them since I was an infant. I remember how excited I used to get when my mom took my sister and I down to Taylor St. to get some Italian Ice. We'd stand in a very long line, get our favorite flavors, and sit on somebody's stoop to enjoy it. Once in a while, an old lady would stick her head out of her window and scream at us in Italian to get off her stoop or grass. What I loved most about it was that there were so many people from so many different neighborhoods all there to enjoy that summertime treat. Mario's isn't the place we used to go...that place closed down, but I hear Mario's is the new best. So if you're ever near the UIC campus, check them out. P.S. Mario's will look nothing like this lot. Expect dilapidated.
Italian Ice in Chicago is different from other places like New York and Pennsylvania
In Chicago, a similar Italian summer refresher is called Italian lemonade or ice. It's typically made by mixing crushed or chopped fruit and/or flavoring with a frozen lemon slush made from fresh lemon juice, sugar and water. In most cases, the base is lemon, even when other flavors, such as watermelon, cantaloupe, raspberry coconut and even chocolate are added.
Here\'s a pool for your sims to congregate at. It\'s decorated, kind of boring, but hey, this is what they look like here. It\'s actually modeled after the one I used to pass on my way to my grandma\'s house. It was disgusting, but I made my version nice so your sims can have a good time.
This is a remodeled brownstone. It has a more modern look. It's great for a young family.
This house is furnished with things that you'd have to pay for too. The same applies as with the other house. Bypass it if you think you are stealing.
This is an old brownstone in the traditional style. It's furnished, but I did use things that you'd normally have to pay for. If you don't want to be a part of that, then don't download it. If you are going to tell on me, go to the link in the news section and read the letter from EA. Personally, I don't care about sharing, I'm not greedy.
As for credits, I'm a bit lazy. Just know that I didn't make any of it and if the creator was smart, it's in the file name.
This is another old style house with a classic look. I think you'll be pleased with the architecture.
This is a "renovated" brownstone. It has the same classic look, but is a little bit more modern and up to date. There is also an addition on the garage, providing the perfect space for a teen or live-in relatives.
Unfortunately, this lot size is just too small for a full garage. There are no parking spaces, but you can always put a parking slab in the front.
For a city neighborhood, this is a great space filler. Don't be fooled by the main image, it really adds an urban vibe to your city. My inspiration for this "apartment" comes from the Hyde Park area of Chicago where these types are common. UIC is also located in Hyde Park, that's why I chose this style.
Like the other, it comes in Residential and Dorm format. There are 8 apartments/dorms. I would definitely say that these are luxury, especially for being dorms so send your really rich sim kids here.
*Note: Contact me if you want the FURNISHED version of these lots.*
This is a lot that is designed to be a space filler in a residential neighborhood and a dorm in a university neighborhood. Since my downtown and uni hood is the same, I have to have matching lots.
There is a kitchen and study area on the main floor. On the floors above, there are 2 apartments in each complex. Both complexes are identical.
This is a nice dorm. College kids living downtown...pfft...bunch of rich kids! lol
*There is NO parking space.
These 1x2 lots are really small. I tried to make it as comfortable as possible, but I think your sims will be a little cramped. I suggest using these for singles or as space fillers in your neighborhood.
The garage is too small for a car. There is a parking slab in the front. The taxi and school bus will still come, but if you don\'t want it there, just delete it.
This is another one of those old houses. I think I succeeded in making it look like it's been around for quite a while. (At least, me thinks...) I like it, it's cute, probably best for newly weds or an old couple. And it's affordable (if your starter sim is willing to forego a toilet and live on snacks).
There is an unfurnished starter and a furnished version (as seen in the pictures).
Enjoy!
Here is the next installment...
I'm planning on creating an identical University neighborhood as my downtown. It will be University in Chicago and am wondering if you'd like for me to upload the dorms and comm lots that go with it.
Also, would anyone be interested in me uploading the whole neighborhood, completely decorated? If so, leave a comment at the bottom of this page. Thanks and enjoy!
Here's how it is in Chicago...
You got this perfect set of brownstones and then smack-dab in the middle of them is an old house. This house usually belonged to some old couple that wouldn't sell to developers.
Here is my version of it. It actually looks nice...I was sort of going for a bit unkempt and decrepit. This one is FULLY furnished.
Here's the next in the series...looks the same on the outside with a different floor plan on the inside.
The first floor and (possibly) bathrooms are furnished. Bedrooms are unfurnished.
Enjoy!
This house has the same urban look as Downtown Living III, but has a whole different floor plan. It's much more spacious, there is plenty of room for a medium sized family.
The house is semi-furnished. I furnished and decorated the 1st floor (living room and kitchen).
*NOTE: If you didn't get Jonesi's modular stair script before, you will need it now.
NOTE 2: I had some decorating mishaps in this one. One is that the slot package for tables turns visible when you exit and re-enter the lot. You can delete those if you like. Another thing...the microwave in the kitchen is a real microwave, not deco as I thought. You'll have to move or delete it. I also forgot to leave the counter space open. You should delete the juicer thingy.
I like the way this one turned out. I can honestly say that when I look at this house I really think of home (Chicago). It's modeled after a real house that can be found in the Lincoln Park neighborhood of Chicago.
The Master Suite is a studio type room on the 3rd floor. Hope you enjoy it.
*NOTE: I used a set of custom Modular Stairs by Jonesi. I'm not sure if they will show up without the script. You can get it here and follow the installation instructions.
2nd NOTE: I'm having trouble getting the driveway to turn. I think seasons may have broke it. The garage is ok, but the garage door is facing the wrong way. I hope that's not too much of an inconvenience to you guys.
This is a nice "Chicago" style home. I got the build bug while I was on a trip there last week. I saw this house and had to build my version of it. I hope you enjoy. As always, it's built for playability and just looks darn good, too!
About my photography skills...well, it just happens to start raining every time I get ready to take pictures. Go figure. Eh, the picture quality outdoors is not so good, but I promise you that the house is beautiful! Also, for some reason the guy was following me around and got into every shot.
*Note: Some of the custom content (plants, mostly) was downloaded with a house. I don't know who made it or where to find it. I thank those creators for their work and if you know where it came from, let me know.
Hey there...this is the start of a new series. My City Living Neighborhood is complete and I'm moving on to the sub-hoods.
I'm really not sure about the style I'm going for, but I hope you can trust that I'll make it look good, LOL.
This lot is semi-furnished to give you an idea of the floor plan.
Enjoy!
This is a super cute house, but beware, it's a Custom Content nightmare if you are trying to keep your downloads folder small. If you don't want the CC in your game, use the Clean Installer to remove the files. The objects will show up as the original Maxis objects they were cloned from.
Hope you enjoy this one. It has a very simple design making it very playable.
I was just fooling around trying to create a certain roof style. I never got what I wanted, but the house I built has a nice look to it. It comes partially furnished because I furnished it when I didn't plan on uploading it. I left the shareable furniture in it. So, here it is...
Enjoy!
This is a beautiful little lot made especially for seasons. There is a small yard with an apple tree and small garden plots. Parking is in the "alley" and has 2 parking spaces.
Because I'm about to move and have a baby, this is the conclusion of the City Living Series. I hope you enjoyed it.
This is another design I thought up while whining about not having a computer. It is more of an apartment style floor plan, but it looks adorable as a small home. It comes partially furnished so you can get a feel for the layout.

This is a gorgeous little home. It has 1 bedroom, but there is room for expansion. I used some Maxis recolors, but for some reason they didn't package so the furniture is in ugly colors (I think so, anyway). Just use the recolor tool or redecorate to your hearts content.

I built these homes before I realized that Targa is quite greedy and will not allow her stairs to be uploaded with homes. Anyhoo, there isn't enough room for any other stairs except hers so you'll have to download them. I promise not to use these on future projects.

2x2 Lot
This is not recommended to be used as a home.
This goes along with the military base that I uploaded. It is a residential lot, although it can easily become a dorm type lot by using the cheat "changelotzoning dorm". In my game, anyone who is in the military career track below Counter Intelligence and not married or have children will have to live here. The lot includes 4 common rooms, 2 buildings, and it is furnished to the highest military standard (which means that your poor sims get absolutely nothing)!
Community Lot
This is a small shop where your sims can buy phones, computers, televisions, fire alarms, and security alarms. Comes complete with a tech support section!
Community Lot
3x3 Lot
The hospital is almost completely furnished, there are a few empty rooms. I included a lot of patient rooms because I didn't want to make this lot too graphic...as I really hate hospitals. It includes a cafeteria, courtyard eating area, and a small gift section.

Community Lot
A quaint little flower shop.
Community Lot
This is based off of the military post I was stationed at in Germany. I didn't furnish the actual military sections so you can use your imagination with that. It does include a place to eat called the McCully Club and a gym.
The building with the garage doors is called the motor pool. I don't know what I did, but the garage doors are backwards. I tried fixing it, but nothing worked. Sorry about that.
Community Lot
This is a small fire department for your neighborhood. It contains a number of things for your sims to do, although it's not particularly fun.

Community Lot
This is just a decoration for your neighborhood. It does include an electrono-ticket thingy, incase one of your sims wants to go into the parking lot industry.
Community Lot
2x2 Lot
It contains a main area with tv's (supposed to be security monitors), detective room, break room, 2 interrogation rooms, jail, and 3 offices. It's not a particularly fun lot...after all, it is a police station.
The jail is made with beams and don't necessarily keep the sims in. I suggest looking at MTS2 for jail bars.
For an interesting and useful way to play with this lot, go here and check out Katy's "Police Stuff". With her mods, this business can actually generate money through police work!
Ever wonder where the social worker takes your children? Wonder no-more, this is the Sunflower Orphanage.
It is a residential lot, but in my game I used the cheat "changelotzoning dorm" to make it a dorm. When it is a dorm, it does not cost money to move in or maintain. I have a "social worker" and children living in the home ready for adoption and if a child is taken by the social worker, they move into this house and await adoption. If you would like to find more creative ways to play the game, I encourage you to read this thread by JadeElliot at MATY.
Obviously you can play this house any way you would like, but the rooms on the second floor are large because they are meant to house a lot of children. You will probably need to redo the second floor a little.
2x2 Lot
The house is small and it may seem a little cramped if you are used to playing GINORMOUS houses. This is a good affordable 2nd home. It is also the first in a VERY long series. I will be uploading a least once a week.

I first put this house on MTS2. Since then, I remodeled it slightly to make the inside look better. There was also a small problem with the roof and I fixed that.

*I suggest the "Always Perfect Plants" hack by twojeffs here. This hack is not necessary, but you'll probably have to redo the landscaping a little, ok, a lot!
There are 2 master bedrooms, 1 on the 1st floor and 1 on the 2nd floor. There are 4 visitor bathrooms and each bedroom has an attached bathroom. There is a small office on the first floor. Every room is clearly marked with a piece of furniture...so you won't get lost.
